More competition in Canada’s food supply chain and lower transportation costs are key goals of the National Food Security Strategy’s $1B investment in food infrastructure.
This investment includes the creation of new food terminals and hubs. Food terminals enable wholesalers to buy and sell food at competitive prices, while new and expanded food hubs will connect multiple farmers and processors to independent retailers, schools and hospitals.
