Providing Access for Emergency Response Services (ERS) Vehicles

While campaigning I heard stories of lakeshore residents being denied Emergency Response Service (ERS) response to their door because the private-owned road to their community was impassible for ERS vehicles. These ACW residents were told to move the patient to the top of their road at highway 21 to be loaded into the ERS vehicle.

If I am elected as ACW Councillor, I will advocate on behalf of these residents for a solution to this unacceptable life-threatening situation. Owners of private roads leading to residential communities must be held accountable for maintaining access of their road to enable Emergency Response Service vehicles to arrive at patient addresses. This includes repairing pot holes, ensuring a minimal width and cut-back of growth and snow clearing the road for police, fire and ambulance vehicles response.
